The book that I will be using for the Literature Activity Assignment will be The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat is a book about two children that are home alone and bored on a rainy day. While they are complaining about having nothing to do, the Cat in the Hat appears and entertains them for the day, while at the same time ruining their house. At the end of the book the Cat helps them clean their house, and then disappears before their mother returns home.
The target grade level will be Kindergarten, and the three lessons that I will be teaching through this book are rhyming word families, sequencing, and making lists. I will be using several different types of media, like YouTube, and Voki. I also plan to create a "hands on" game for my students using the SMART Notebook, and using Rubistar to create rubrics for assessment.
